Sophie Monk Makes A Big Announcement

We knew it!

Sophie Monk has officially signed up for another dating show, but unlike her quest for love on the Bachelorette, this time, the 37-year-old will be in the hosting seat.

This morning, the star announced she will be the first-ever host of Love Island Australia.

The new gig also means Monk will be ditching her Channel Ten contract, with the new reality dating show airing in 2018 on Channel Nine.

The official announcement was made live on Friday’s Today show, however, it’s been rumoured for weeks that Sophie would be the mystery host.

Fans of the original U.K. version will tell you that Love Island is equal parts addictive and entertaining. It combines best attributes of The Bachelor and Big Brother – seeing a group of genetically blessed contestants search for love as Australia watches on each week by week. And the best part? Audiences can have their say via vote and actually chooses the winners!

There’s only one catch! One person in the couple can decide to share the money with their new love or keep it all to themselves — revealing whether they were in it for the money all along, or genuinely looking for love.

9Now and 9Go have confirmed they’ll be screening the first Aussie season of Love Island in 2018 and it will be filmed in Spain.
