Congratulations are in order! Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas have welcomed their first child, a rep for the couple has confirmed to People. According to the outlet, the Game of Thrones actress gave birth to a baby girl on July 22 and the couple has named her Willa.
“Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas are delighted to announce the birth of their baby,” a rep for Jonas told the publication.
“The couple is already obsessed and can’t stop gloating about their new addition,” another source told Entertainment Tonight. “The couple is taking time to enjoy this special moment and have only shared the news and updates with family and friends.”
Even though fans knew the couple were expecting, they never made an official announcement.
In a recent interview on SiriusXM, the Jonas Brother opened up about laying low over the last few months. “We’re having a good time,” he said. “We got married last year, so we’re still enjoying that time.”
While they’ve been laying low, earlier this year, the parents-to-be joined the Black Lives Matter protests in Los Angeles – taking a stand against police brutality and systematic racism. Sharing to Instagram, both Turner and Jonas shared pictures from the peaceful protests.
“No justice, no peace #BlackLivesMatter,” the GOT star captioned her post, which contained two photos and one video clip.
In the first picture in the gallery post, protestors can be seen lying face down in an open, grassy area. The second picture in the set features Sophie, clad in bear-printed pyjama pants, a black sweatshirt, and a face mask, holding a sign that reads, “White silence is violence.” The gallery ends with a video clip from the event, in which Sophie and Joe join other protestors in chanting, “No justice, no peace.”
The actress and musician got married in Las Vegas in May of 2019 and had a second ceremony a month later in France. And while Turner is yet to comment on becoming a mother, she previously spoke about how happy Jonas makes her.
Speaking to Glamour UK in 2019, she said: “A lot of [my happiness now] is to do with being with a person I’ve fallen in love with, who loves me more than he loves himself, and who wants to see me find my own happiness,” she said. “That was probably the biggest thing that pushed me to find who I am and find my happiness in things other than acting.”
