After surprising everyone with their low-key Las Vegas wedding back in May following the Billboard Music Awards, Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas have had their second, more formal wedding in France, surrounded by friends and family, including the bride’s Game of Thrones co-stars and celebrities such as Ashley Graham and Dr. Phil.
The wedding comes after they held a rehearsal dinner for which the newlyweds wore matching red ensembles while the wedding party and wedding guests wore white. Sister-in-laws Priyanka Chopra and Danielle Jonas were in attendance, as well as celeb guests Ashley Graham and Game of Thrones co-star Maisie Williams, who was the Maid of Honour. It’s still unclear who Sophie has chosen as her other bridesmaids.
Joe’s brothers, and fellow Jonas Brothers, Nick Jonas and Kevin Jonas, as well as younger brother Frankie Jonas were all groomsmen. The two bandmates were also groomsmen at Joe and Sophie’s Vegas ceremony, which was live streamed by Diplo. Before the couple said ‘I do’, country duo Dan + Shay sang their hit Speechless as the bride walked down the aisle, according to Us Weekly, escorted by the groom’s longtime manager, Phil McIntyre. The couple then exchanged Ring Pops in lieu of customary wedding bands.
An Elvis impersonator officiated the Las Vegas ceremony at the Little White Wedding Chapel.
“They’re enjoying the newness of being married and being able to call each other ‘husband’ and ‘wife,’” a source told Us Weekly at the time of the first wedding. “They’re just super happy.”
Sophie and Joe tied the knot for the second time at the most incredible French wedding venue in Sarrians, the Château de Tourreau, a breathtaking 16-bedroom, 16-bathroom private estate in Provence. Ahead of the big day, they were spotted having a pool party with their guests, before holding a rehearsal dinner at the Hotel La Mirande in Avignon in France, where the bride and groom wore matching red outfits and guests wore white.
After a friend accidentally gave away the location of the nuptials in a now-deleted Instagram Story of the invite, which read, “Sophie and Joe 2019 France,” Joe confirmed the couple would be having a summer wedding and that the day would be a blend of both of their backgrounds – potentially why they chose France as their location, a place in between Joe’s home in the USA and Turner’s home in England.
The wedding date was then given away by none other than Dr. Phil, who commented below a loved up photo of Joe and Sophie in Paris last weekend, writing, “Easy now! 1 week to go!”
Turner and Joe have been in France for a week now, exploring Paris as they prepare for their nuptials.
Sophie and Joe announced their engagement in October 2017, after just over a year of dating. Rumours that the pair were an item start swirling when Joe was spotted with his arm around Sophie at the MTV EMAs in November 2016 and Sophie later told marie claire that the couple met through mutual friends, before revealing that Joe actually slid into her Instagram DMs. Ah, young love.
The Game of Thrones star also credits Joe for her self-love, something she openly admits she struggled with in her teen years and early 20s. The couple also regularly post intimate and loved-up pictures on social media, including in France in the lead-up to their wedding ceremony.
