Byron Label Spell Partners With Outland Denim For A 70s-Inspired Capsule Collection

Those wide leg jeans, though.

Byron Bay-based label Spell is likely on your radar if you’re invested in all things 70s-aesthetic. Similarly, Outland Denim – an Australian brand dedicated to sustainable practices and ethical production of its stylish denim pieces – is also making a name for itself thanks to timeless styles and transparency. Now, the two brands have united to bring us a capsule collection that is just the beginning of their work together.

The Spell x Outland Denim collection launches later this week, and features five key items inspired by the free-wheeling 70s and Western Americana.

A hero is the wide-leg, flared jeans – produced in the perfect light wash that will pair effortlessly with a simple white tee for weekend off-duty style.

The best part, however, is the ethics and sustainability behind the partnership. Both brands have worked hard to adopt best-practice when it comes to sustainable and ethical production methods, with Outland Denim’s Cambodian facilities created as a place to offer training and employment for young women who have experienced exploitation, with the aim of a ripple effect into the wider community.

The denim label’s methods were what inspired the partnership in the first place, says Elizabeth Abegg, Spell co-founder and chief brand officer. “We’ve been introduced to an entirely new standard of supply chain transparency and responsibility. During a time
where partnerships are integral to creating real change, we are so proud of this collaboration.”

“We have a lot of respect for what Spell has created in a brand and, as an extension of that, a community where women can connect”, says James Bartle, Founding CEO of Outland Denim. “Spell has a strong aesthetic and iconic sense of personality, so to see our production house working with the Spell design lens has been a joy to watch.”

The Spell x Outland Denim collection will be available to purchase from May 7th 10am AEST, 2021 at Outland Denim and Spell.
