Rumour Has It We Might See A ‘Spice World’ Sequel Very Soon

We're getting the band back together!

Do you know what you want? What you really, really want? Well, not to get too excited prematurely, but it might be on the cards for Spice Girl fans. We’re pleased to inform you that it seems like a Spice World sequel featuring a reunion of the original Spice Girls could be on the cards.

While we’re taking this pleasing news with a grain of salt—it’s all per a source—it does seem like a follow-up to the incredibly successful 1997 film could be making its way to cinemas quite soon, with rumours discussing a release date as early as 2022.

The forthcoming project is said to be spearheaded by Geri Horner née Halliwell, who currently manages the Spice Girls. And while members Melanie C, Emma Bunton and Mel B are apparently on board, there’s no word yet on whether Victoria Beckham will join on, though they’re reportedly hopeful. (Posh Spice opted out of the band’s most recent reunion tour.)

“The girls have been talking about how to mark the film’s anniversary and are actively considering making a tongue-in-cheek sequel,” a source shared about the potential Spice World sequel. “They have approached a screenwriter who is considering working on the project and making tentative steps forward.”

Perhaps the most promising thing the source shared was this tidbit: “It is still in the early stages but they are talking to established names in the business, which proves they are taking a big screen comeback seriously.”

Spice Girls fans will recall that the original Spice World followed the group as they prepared for a momentous concert at the Royal Albert Hall. Should the tentative sounding project find its feet, we’re wondering what subject the girls would tackle over two decades later?

Regardless: we want this future, so forget the past.
