For spring/summer 2021, Sportmax conjured comfort by riffing on ’90s minimalism and grunge. There was masculine tailoring, top-to-toe pinstripes and clingy tie-dye tops. The collection was inspired by the body — the shapes, the silhouettes and the skin — and sheer layers and architectural draping both proved common themes.
Of course Sportmax, little sister of Max Mara, would never get stuck in the past. Instead, stompy, chiselled boots, arm jewellery and supersized clutches accessorised each look, masterfully putting the now in now-stalgia.
