Calling All Cousin Greg Enthusiasts: ‘Succession’ Season 4 Has Started Filming

The family we love to hate will be back on our screens sooner than expected.

Christmas has come early for fans of the satirical, cult-favourite franchise Succession, with the highly-anticipated fourth season of the franchise set to drop sooner than we expected.

Despite trying to fill the Waystar Royco-sized hole their on-screen absence has left with watching reruns of our other favourite Matthew Macfadyen flick (Pride and Prejudice, naturally), television just hasn’t been the same without the Roys. And no, Logan did not pay us to write that.

Thankfully, the powers at be (aka HBO) have revealed that the production has commenced for fourth season of Succession, with filming for the season already underway. We can taste the intergenerational family trauma from here.

The showrunners have also dropped the synopsis for the upcoming season and it looks spicier than ever.

Can we expect more gaudy pantsuits from Shiv? You can bet on it. Buffoonery from our favourite dynamic duo, Tom Wambsgans and Cousin Greg? You know it. A potential Presidential election campaign from Conner? God we hope not.

Below, we round up everything you need to know about Succession season four.

What Is Succession Season 4 About?

As per the official logline, Succession season four will see the Roy family struggle with coming to terms with their future if the sale of Waystar Royco to Lukas Matsson (played by Alexander Skarsgård) goes ahead.

Read the synopsis for yourself below:

“The sale of media conglomerate Waystar Royco to tech visionary Lukas Matsson moves ever closer. The prospect of this seismic sale provokes existential angst and familial division among the Roys as they anticipate what their lives will look like once the deal is completed. A power struggle ensues as the family weighs up a future where their cultural and political weight is severely curtailed.”

A curtailed cultural and political weight of some of the most powerful members of the upper echelon? We love to see it.

Following the format of the first two seasons, season four will also have ten delicious episodes to sink our teeth into. Could this be the season we see the Roy’s finally fall from grace? Only time will tell.

All main cast members, including Brian Cox (Logan Roy), Jeremy Strong (Kendall Roy), Sarah Snook (Siobhan Roy), Kieran Culkin (Roman Roy), Alan Ruck (Connor Roy), Matthew Macfadyen (Tom Wambsgans) and Nicholas Braun (Cousin Greg) will all be returning for the fourth season.

It’s likely that Alexander Skarsgård will also be appearing in the new season.

What Is The Release Date For Succession Season 4?

As filming for season four only began in June 2022, we’re anticipate it won’t be released until at least 2023

Unfortunately, the production team has not yet confirmed when the season will be released, however we can assume the team will reveal more details closer to the date.

Will There Be A Succession Season 5?

While HBO hasn’t confirmed whether a fifth season has been greenlit, Alan Ruck (who plays Connor Roy) has let it slip that it’s a likely possibility.
