A former beauty queen has been sentenced to a two-year custodial sentence for the supply of methamphetamines.
As Nine News reports, 20-year-old Najah Jackson-Ghamrawi reportedly broke down in tears on Thursday at the NSW District Court as a series of text messages were read out that had been sent from her phone about selling prohibited drugs.
“You’re looking at 35 to 37 max. You’ll be paying 37 max because prices have gone up now,” one of the messages from December, 2016 read.
Another said: This is the best on the market. Are you happy? If you think too expensive, then go elsewhere.”
Jackson-Ghamrawi was pulled over for erratic driving on December 21, 2016. Insider her car, police found 22g of ice and $9000 in cash.
According to The Daily Mail, Jackson-Ghamrawi is a former beauty queen who won Miss Lebanon Emigrant Australia 2016.
During her sentencing hearing, Judge Colefax told the court: “Her offending was driven by a desire to make money.
“No sentence other than full-time imprisonment would be appropriate.”.
A judge will now determine if her two-year sentence will be spent in prison or under house arrest.
