The Bachelor’s Simone Thinks This Frontrunner Wins Matty J’s Heart

And reveals she's open to being the next Bachelorette

After spending two months in The Bachelor mansion, bubbly British 25-year-old Simone Ormesher had just 20 minutes of one-on-one time with Matty J. “If that,” she tells marie claire, the morning after her elimination from the show.

“It got to the point where I felt like I was just there for the entertainment and I can’t think any other way because Matty didn’t really show interest in me,” she says.

Simone was overlooked for a single date on The Bachelor, despite other contestants going on second dates—and swapping a lot of saliva with Matty J.

“I think it’s never happened where a girl has made it that far and not had a date. I kept on thinking, ‘It’s obviously going to happen, I’m not that bad of a catch, am I?’” she explains.

“But it didn’t happen and I thought, why are you keeping me here?”

Simone’s pick to win

Of the remaining girls, Simone has her money on Laura to steal Matty’s heart. “I definitely think Laura has got a good chance of winning it,” she reveals. Elise—”who has come out of nowhere”—and Elora make up her top three picks.

In addition to her friendship with Elora on the show, Simone has forged a close bond with “sweetheart” Cobie.

“I’ve seen her a few times since getting out of the house. But I speak to her almost every day on the phone, if not then texting,” she explains.

The Leah controversy

Simone, who once worked as a topless waitress, was ruthlessly grilled alongside Leah for her previous profession. She said the episode was “really hard” to watch back and that she “had to have a few glasses of wine”.

“I think I held myself pretty well, there’s was nothing I could do about it, it came out—I just had to deal with it. It was very confronting,” she recounts.

Many viewers argued Matty’s inquiries about Simone’s past were intrusive and unjustified.

“He hadn’t even put me on a date, so why did I have to tell him something about my past? It got me really angry,” she says. “I was just like, ‘You’ve got no right to know anything about me, you haven’t spent any time getting to know me.’”

Simone knew about Leah’s work before going on the show and suggests the former contestant was the one who instigated the drama.

“She just wasn’t very nice in the house to have a chat with. It came out herself because she told people— that’s how it came out. She did it herself, but then dragged me with her. It wasn’t too nice.”

Her ideal man

Simone admits that she has no hard feelings for Matty, adding: “He’s not right for me and I did know that. There’s not much there banter-wise. I think I’m a bit too hyper for him—it just wasn’t right.”

Her dream partner doesn’t take life too seriously and has a killer sense of humour.

“Someone who can make you laugh that way beats good looks any day,” she says. “A bit more rugged, tall a bit more manly. Someone who can roll out of bed, like ‘whatever.'”

Matty J didn’t tick all of those boxes.

“I think he’d be doing his hair longer than mine,” she laughs.

Finding love after The Bachelor

Simone reveals that since leaving the house, she’s been on just one date. Would we know him? “No, he’s nobody really,” she laughs

“It didn’t go too well so I’ve not been on once since. I don’t like dating, I find it really awkward. Making a girl pay on the first date—and he did—and not even to offer to pay half, I was like, ‘Oh God!'”

She’s not a fan of dating apps, either, but is open to being the next Bachelorette.

“I don’t know if they’d have me, but I would definitely—what a great way to meet someone,” she says. “It would be a great opportunity to have my pick now.”
