The Bachelorette’s Brett Says The Intruders Are “All More Suited To Sophie”

And he spills on who’s there for the wrong reasons

If there’s one thing freshly eliminated Bachelorette contestant Brett isn’t worried about, it’s how he was portrayed on national television. “I said about three words the whole series, so I’m sweet!” he admits to marie claire in his exit interview.

As laidback in real life as he appears on TV, Brett is all too happy to tell it how it really is in the Bachelorette mansion, from dishing on the guys he suspects aren’t there to find love to naming the strongest contenders. And then, of course, there’s Jarrod.

What was the highlight of being on the show?

I was in the mansion for just under a month, and a lot went down. I met some ripper blokes, got to know Sophie on a personal level – she’s an amazing girl. And we went to some amazing places.

What made you apply?

I was contacted while I was out having a few beers with the boys at the pub. I thought it was an opportunity that I’d regret if I turned down.

Is anyone on the show for the wrong reasons?

It’s hard to say for the wrong reasons, but the guys in there who are 24 years old – I don’t think they’d be as keen to settle down as she would be. But I don’t want to say they’re there for the wrong reasons.

What was your first impression of Stu?

Stuey, along with AJ, took my place. We swapped roles – we got to hang out for a day, and my first impression was he was a genuine nice guy. We had a laugh.

Do you think he’s a strong contender?

He’s probably more suited to Sophie than some of the other guys on the show.

Who do you think will win?

That’s a toughie between who I want to win and who I think will win. The intruders are probably all more suited to her – they’re that bit older, they’re more mature – but then there’s guys I’ve formed a relationship with on the show, guys like Ryan, Sammy and Mack, who I would want to win. Mack is such a good guy.

Any tensions in the mansion that viewers aren’t aware of?

Sammy and Jarrod’s beef has been depicted pretty accurately, they didn’t see eye to eye. They’re just at opposite ends of the scale. But everyone sort of got along, had a beer.

What’s next?

I was missing a creative outlet. I love my photography, I’ve just launched back into work and I’m loving it.
