The Crown’s Matt Smith Has A Chilling New Role

It couldn't be further from Prince Philip

Just months after the death of cult leader Charles Manson, there are more movies in the works about the infamous criminal to count, from Quentin Tarantino’s new film reportedly starring Margot Robbie and Leonardo DiCaprio to The Haunting of Sharon Tate, starring Hillary Duff.

Then there’s Charlie Says, which focusses on three female Manson family members who were sentenced to death.

Matt Smith—most recently applauded for his role as Prince Philip on The Crown—is set to star as Manson himself, The Hollywood Reporter has announced.

Manson, of course, was the evil mastermind behind the brutal murder of pregnant actress Sharon Tate, the wife of director Roman Polanski, and six others in August 1969. He was sentenced to a life sentence in US prison and died on November 19 at age 83 of natural causes.

Charlie Says has an excellent creative team so far, including American Psycho director Mary Harron, Suki Waterhouse, Hannah Murray, Odessa Young and Marianne Rendon.

“Guinevere Turner’s script brings a fresh and unique perspective to the infamous story of the Manson murders and we have now found the perfect cast to bring it to life,” director Harron said of the highly-anticipated project.

We’ll be watching.
