‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Has A Major New Cast Member

The West Wing fans will love this

First, we heard the thrilling news from Elisabeth Moss that The Handmaid’s Tale is going to be “even more balls to the wall” in its second season. Then, we saw the trailer for Emmy-award winning drama and believed the hype. And now, a new cast member has been announced for The Handmaid’s Tale season two and our excitement levels have exceeded what we thought was humanly possible.

Bradley Whitford, the acting veteran known for his work on The West Wing and his excellent recent performances in Get Out and The Post, will join the Hulu series as Commander Joseph Lawrence in a recurring role.

As Deadline reports, Whitford will play the architect of Gilead’s economy, whose “sly humour and flashes of kindness make him a confusing, mysterious presence for his newest Handmaid”.

Marisa Tomei is also on board for season two, although her role has been cloaked in as much mystery as a Handmaid’s body.

Season two will take us to the ‘Colonies’ of Gilead, where condemned criminals are sent, and explore what happens next for Offred (Elisabeth Moss), who fell pregnant at the end of season one.

The Handmaid’s Tale will premiere in the US on April 25 and will be fast-tracked to Australia on SBS On Demand.

Praise be!
