Here's everything we know.

If you thought the haunting tales of Gilead were almost over, prepare to think again: The Handmaids Tale is almost back for its fifth season, and yes, it’s just as twisted as its four predecessors.

Hulu has dropped the first look at the new season with two new images—and while they don’t reveal much on the surface, there’s a couple of clues that suggest something sinister awaits.

Below, everything we know (so far) about The Handmaids Tale, season five.

What will happen in season 5 of The Handmaids Tale?

Per the first look images from Hulu, it appears June (Elizabeth Moss) is ready to come out fighting in season five after orchestrating the death of the commander.

Hulu also released a written teaser for the show, explaining that season five will see June “face consequences for killing Commander Waterford (Joseph Fiennes) while struggling to redefine her identity and purpose.”

Meanwhile, the commander’s wife Serena (Yvonne Strahovski) is seen in the first look in a black funeral outfit—though she doesn’t look devastated, per se.

According to Hulu, Serena will attempt to “raise her profile in Toronto as Gilead’s influence creeps into Canada”.
