Against the backdrop of the Nazi occupation of Paris, The New Look will follow the career of these great designers and, as per Deadline, focus on “the pivotal moment in the 20th century when Paris led the world back to life through its fashion icons.”
With the name inspired by Dior’s pivotal collection, fondly coined ‘The New Look’ because of the contemporary ultra-feminine and consequently ‘new’ designs, we’re excited to see this crucial moment in history on the small screen.
Our very own Ben Mendelsohn, who you’ll recognise from his Emmy-Award winning performance in Netflix’s Bloodline, is set to play the role of the young Dior, with the iconic French actress Juliette Binoche taking on the mantle of Coco Chanel.
Todd A. Kessler, who has previously worked with Mendelsohn on Bloodline, will write, direct and executive produce the series.
With the show to be filmed exclusively in Paris, we know that nostalgic project will serve all the wanderlust and French fashion inspiration we will ever need—our apologies in advance to Emily In Paris.
While there’s no further news on when the show will be released, you’ll be able to stream The New Look exclusively on Apple TV.
