The Ordinary Has Launched Its First Cleanser

And it’s only $14

You might already know The Ordinary for their super cheap serums, famously affordable Virgin Marula Oil and tricky, chemical-only product names. And if you don’t, add knowing about it to your to-do list right away.

So when it was announced that The Ordinary had released their first ever cleansing product, we almost couldn’t contain our excitement. Now, the cleanser, named Squalane Cleanser, is online and ready to buy for a cool $14.

Made with squalene oil, which is a naturally moisturising property already found in our skin, the cleanser turns from a cream to a oil after a few seconds of rubbing between your fingers — perfectly for effortlessly removing make-up and dirt. Complete with a handful of lipophilic esters, a type of fatty oil, the cleanser (which is actually oil-free — don’t ask us explain, just trust in the science) is meant for everyday use without drying out the skin.

The new product comes just a few months after the death of Brandon Truaxe, founder of Deciem, The Ordinary’s parent company. Truaxe was confirmed to have passed away on January 21, following months of concern for his mental health. Truaxe’s behaviour led to part-owners Estée Lauder removing him from his position just before his passing, prior to which there was an announcement that the company would close altogether. Thankfully, the company has not closed — rather, they are ramping up production of new products.

The Squalane Cleanser is available to buy now from The Ordinary’s website and in-store.
