The series' costume designer Patricia Field famously found the iconic skirt in a sales bin for $5. “It was very difficult for the producers to understand the tutu,” recalls the Australian-born stylist. “Sarah Jessica and I were fighting for it, and Darren said, ‘OK, but I want other outfits as possibilities.'”
“It was such a brilliant choice because, in a way, Carrie’s dancing through her life in New York,” Star says. Looking back, Star can’t imagine a tutu-less Carrie—and neither can we!
