As soon as Ryan Murphy’s name is attached to a project, it doesn’t take much persuasion to get on board. Murphy is the creator of arguably two of the most successful television shows in history – Glee and American Horror Story. Netflix’s The Politician is a wild ride, described by many as simply “batshit crazy”. But it’s in that chaos that Murphy finds magic. There’s sex, gender fluidity, depression, suicide and Munchausen by proxy (seriously), and of course, politics.
For those that have yet to hear anything about the series: Payton Hobart (Ben Platt) is a wealthy high school student in Santa Barbara running for student body president, on a mission to eventually become President of the United States. In addition to Platt, Lucy Boynton (queen of experimental beauty), Gwyneth Paltrow, Zoey Deutch, David Corenswet, Julia Schlaepfer, Laura Dreyfuss, Theo Germaine, Rahne Jones, and Jessica Lange star.
