The Project’s Gorgi Coghlan Reveals Entertainer Past

Biology teacher by day...

She’s a household name thanks to her hosting role on The Project, but there’s more than meets the eye to Gorgi Coghlan, with the media personality revealing she used to be a high school teacher moonlighting in showbiz on the side.

Speaking to Rachel Corbett on the You’ve Gotta Start Somewhere podcast, Coghlan revealed she “was doing four gigs a week” as a Shania Twain impersonator at RSLs around the country.

“I’m one of those people that one thing’s just not enough,” Coghlan told Corbett, adding that the experience was “a bloody hoot” and made “really good coin.”

The TV host was teaching biology at McKinnon Secondary College in Melbourne at the time, the Daily Mail reports, where she occasionally performed in school assemblies.

“Some of my Year 11 and 12s who were professional dancers were my backup dancers,” Coghlan reveals.

She taught biology and did the Australian Shania Twain Tribute Show on the side for three years before quitting teaching to pursue a career in musical theatre, before transitioning into TV.
