Revealed in royal historian Robert Lacey's new book Battle of Brothers: William and Harry — the Friendship and the Feuds, Lacey recounts a time during the 2018 royal wedding when Prince Harry and his grandmother Queen Elizabeth argued over his bride-to-be's tiara.
The tense situation reportedly came after Harry apparently told staff working on the royal wedding that "what Meghan wants, Meghan gets", after she was told she couldn't wear her first choice in tiara for their nuptials.
Per Lacey's book, The Queen reportedly was not pleased with his announcement, with an excerpt shared by the Mirror detailing the dispute:
"Not for the first time, nor sadly the last, the word 'no' pushed a button inside him and he flew into a rage. There were dressers and flunkies present, guarding and organizing the jewels, so it was inevitable that his now-famous exclamation should find its way to the outside world—What Meghan wants, Meghan gets!
Her Majesty did not approve. 'Meghan cannot have whatever she wants,' was was reported to have replied. 'She gets the tiara that she's given by me."
This is not the first time in 2020 that information has been released regarding the feud surrounding Meghan Markle's wedding day tiara.
In the Sussexes' own book, Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family, royal authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durrand offered a very different insight into what happened, between Prince Harry, The Queen and Meghan Markle.
"The tiara selection went wonderfully. The Queen was very happy, Meghan was very happy," he said, according to the Mirror.
"In fact Meghan's words when that story came out were 'how sad, I love my tiara.'"
