The Royal Family Didn’t Wish Harry And Meghan A Happy Anniversary

The couple celebrated their second wedding anniversary in isolation

It was this time two years ago when the world watched as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle said “I do” at Windsor Castle. But times have drastically changed since then: the Sussexes have welcomed baby Archie and left their roles as senior working royals, choosing instead to relocate to Markle’s hometown of Los Angeles.

The couple is currently isolating amid the coronavirus pandemic, but still found time to celebrate the major milestone.

“The day will simply be quality time with one another and as a family,” a source told Harper’s Bazaar‘s Omid Scobie. “They’re not going to be doing any work and made sure they have no meetings or calls in the diary.”

“Like everyone else, they are in lockdown at the moment, so they will just be hanging out together at home,” the source added. “But it will still be a lovely day.”

Fans and media used the day to reminisce, but some key people were noticeably missing from the shoutouts: the royal family.

Members of the royal family usually tribute a social media post to major occasions in their families lives. While Prince William and Kate Middleton recently wished baby Archie a happy first birthday, they’ve never previously posted to celebrate Harry and Meghan’s wedding, so it’s unsurprising they gave this year’s anniversary post a miss.

But eagle-eyed fans were quick to point out that the Queen did not publicly acknowledge the couple’s second anniversary. Unlike Kate and Wills, the official royal family account wished Harry and Meghan a happy anniversary last year.

“Wishing The Duke and Duchess of Sussex a very happy wedding anniversary,” the caption read. “Today marks one year since Their Royal Highnesses exchanged vows at St George’s Chapel in the grounds of Windsor Castle.”

It remains unclear if this was an intentional move from Her Majesty, or just a simple case of forgetfulness (after all, the world is pretty crazy at the moment!). Nevertheless, happy anniversary Harry and Megs!
