Australia’s Most Successful Podcast 'The Teacher's Pet' Just Released A New Episode
Since its release in May of this year, The Teacher's Pet has become a worldwide phenomenon. The podcast, which prompted its host, Hedley Thomas, to win Australia's most prestigious journalism award, the Gold Walkley, has been downloaded more than 27 million times worldwide.
Focused on the unsolved disappearance of Sydney mother-of-two Lyn Dawson, who was last seen on January 8, 1982, The Teacher's Pet delves into the life and marriage of the 33-year-old, revealing that her friends and family are certain she was murdered - and certain it was at the hands of her husband, Chris Dawson.
Produced by The Australian and hosted by the national chief correspondent Thomas, the podcast's 14 episodes did a deep dive into the police bungles, potential cover-ups and the horrific culture in Northern Beaches' schools in the '80s, prompting police to open an investigation into sexual assault by teachers.
The huge response to Thomas' investigation and the wide thought theory that Lyn's body is buried at the Dawson's former property at Bayview also resulted in police digging at the home for evidence.
Now, over three months since the podcast was put on hold, a new episode has been released, covering the unsuccessful dig and features interviews with new witnesses who talk about Dawson's explosive temper and relationship with Joanne Curtis, the teenager and student at Cromer High, who Dawson groomed and eventually moved into his home as his wife's replacement.
Thomas also interviews the woman who was working at Northbridge Baths on the day that Dawson alleges Lyn called him to say she had left the home and needed time to think. The last time she was heard from by anyone other than Dawson was the night prior, when she briefly spoke to her mother on the phone. As it stands, Lyn has not been seen or heard from in 36 years.
