Exciting news for the fans of musicals and the Broadway hit Wicked!
The film adaptation of Wicked is coming December 20, 2019 from Universal Pictures.
Tony Award winner Stephen Daldry, who produces the stage show, will direct the film adaptation. Writer Winnie Holzman and composer Stephen Schwarts, who also worked on the Broadway show, are also joining Stephen for the movie musical.
As of yet, there’s no word on who will star in the film.
Wicked first opened on Broadway in 2003, launching the careers of Kristen Chenoweth and Idina Menzel.
The Hollywood Reporter reported that in March, the production grossed over $1 billion, with global ticket sales around $4billion. If that’s any indication, the film is sure to be a hit at the box office.
Although it is quit a long wait until the release, it will so be worth it!
