The full-length version of the song comes just days after the virtual 2020 APRA Music Awards, where Plum was nominated for Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year and her track “Better In Blak” was Peer-Voted APRA Song of the Year.
Plum has had a busy 12 months, including recovering from COVID-19 herself, which she was hospitalised with in March. But the “These Days” cover has been a silver lining, “I was given the chance to record a song I grew up with, and as a Brissie local, I already knew a couple of the Powderfinger guys so of course, I said yes. I even recorded parts of it in Ian’s [Haug, Powderfinger guitarist] studio, which made it feel even more natural.”
After releasing her debut album in July last year - which features the certified ARIA Platinum single “Clumsy Love” - we are desperately waiting for her new music, which is scheduled to be released later this year. In other good news her highly anticipated national Homecoming Queen tour (with special guest Kira Puru, yay!) has been re-scheduled to November/December.
Until then, we’ll be listening to this cover on repeat. “These Days” is available in its entirety on all streaming platforms from today.
