Best CC cream: IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream Illumination

IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream, $58, Sephora.

While the cost is not exactly on the pharmacy end ($58), this CC Cream comes in four shades and delivers colour correcting and full coverage benefits.

The general consensus for this product is that it provides a great level of coverage for day-to-day wear and a glow that users love.

One user said: “Technically a CC Cream but ‘IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream Illumination” has been my go to for a few months now, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. When I first swatched it on my hand, I was like, “Nope, too yellow toned for me” but it works out somehow on my face, and I feel like I have such a glow when wearing it.”

Good to know: While the verdict was overwhelmingly positive, one user said for combination skin the illumination was a little too much for her skin type, but she still loved the sparkle in the formula.

Best pharmacy formula: L’Oreal Paris Lumi Magique Light Infusing Foundation

L’Oreal Paris Lumi Magique Light Infusing Foundation, $12.47, Priceline.

The formula aims to give wearers a ‘lit from within’ glow, which received a great positive response from the panel of Reddit users. The product’s glow and dewy finish were the most popular traits, as well as the length of wear, which some users said was up to 12 hours. The only con users commented on was about the shade range not being as broad as it could be.

“It has a beautiful dewy finish, can build up to medium coverage, and has a SPF of 20. It definitely is comfortable and very skin like. The downsides are the shade range is limited on the deeper end especially and compared to their true match line, and it’s not the longest lasting foundation either- I would say 8 hrs”

While another user said “It has lasted a full 12 hours for me. I would say L’Oreal Lumi is my drugstore holy grail”.

“It doesn’t leave my face looking flat, lifeless, and sallow, nor does it oxidize orangey or pinkish. I love how this blends into my skin. I almost never use face primer under this, just my regular moisturizer.”

Best luxe formula: Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation

Double Wear Stay-In-Place Make-Up, $52.

This liquid foundation formula is intended to last 15 hours, as a long-wear foundation. In addition to its long-lasting benefits, users loved its texture and coverage, especially those with oily skin.

One user said, “It’s the best foundation I’ve ever tried. It’s full coverage but can be sheered out, wide shade range and doesn’t oxidize.”

While another posted a huge list of pros, which ranged from excellent coverage and great texture, to its photogenic finish and how compatible it is with a huge range of primers and moisturisers.

Another user with oily skin referred to it as a “God send!! Fully lasts all day right until the end. Can change how I want the finish to look and I love doing this!”
