Velvet has emerged as a major 2017 fashion trend, appearing on everything from Dior’s magical dresses to new Triangl bikinis.
But you don’t have to spend a fortune to try the trend, as evidenced by the hair accessory dominating both the runway and front row at Fashion Week.

Black velvet ribbons have been seen everywhere from Tory Burch’s oversized versions for NYFW to Emily Ratajkowski, who secured a loose side plait with black velvet for the Valentino A/W ’17-18 show.
Although hair ribbons can scream schoolgirl, in plush velvet they seem instantly more sophisticated.
Mandy Moore has also tried the trend, attending a film screening with a voluminous updo set off by a crimson velvet ribbon at the back.
