This Is The Age When Most People Start Hating Their Jobs

Are we there yet?

You can spot the difference a mile away: the peppy new starter who bounces into the office each morning, and the jaded long-time staffer who’s counting down the days until they qualify for long service leave.

But now, a new study conducted by British human resources company Robert Half UK has pinpointed the exact age when we’re most likely to be completely done with our jobs: 35.

They surveyed more than 2000 workers and found that one in six over the age of 35 reported being unhappy, according to Bloomberg – more than double the number for those who were under 35.

Additionally, nearly a third of people over 55 reported feeling under-appreciated and 16 per cent said they had no friends at work.

A third of over-35s said work was stressful, while only a quarter between the age of 18-35 reported feeling stressed.

The report attributes job dissatisfaction south of 35 with feelings that you haven’t achieved as much as you thought you would by that age or, on the flipside, the extra stress of holding senior position.
