This Is What A Domestic Abuse Helpline Call Really Sounds Like

MakeItStop

A powerful new campaign highlights the harrowing experience of domestic violence victims right on our doorstep.

Launched today and titled The Sound of Violence, the video campaign pictures real people listening to a domestic violence helpline call, until they all reach a point where they can’t take it anymore and ask for the recording to stop.

The video makes it clear how domestic and family violence can include financial and emotional abuse as well as physical, and concludes with the chilling truth that every day, calls like this are made in Australia (and indeed, around the world).

The campaign was launched by the Full Stop Foundation, which supports 22,000 victims of domestic violence each year.

As part of the campaign, we are all encouraged to share a photo holding a hand out with the hashtag, #MakeItStop written on the palm. To learn more, visit fullstopfoundation.org.au.
