Palace Outraged After Thomas Markle’s Princess Diana Comments During Explosive Rant

‘Diana would have loathed the way I've been treated'

Meghan Markle’s estranged father has added further fuel to the fire (read: blazing inferno) that is his feud with the royal family after giving yet another interview – and this time referring to Prince Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana. Oh no he didn’t.

“They have Meghan treating her father in a way that Harry’s mother Princess Diana would have loathed,” the 74-year-old said in an explosive interview with the Mail on Sunday. “That’s not what Diana stood for,” he added.

The comments refer to Markle’s claims that his daughter has cut all ties with him following her wedding to Prince Harry on May 19.

“Princess Diana is credited with changing the Royal Family, but she wasn’t perfect,” Markle continued. “She was still very much one of them. I think Meghan’s the one who’ll bring them into the 21st Century, if they’ll let her.”

When asked of his son-in-law Harry, Markle says, “I don’t care if Harry never speaks to me again, I’ll survive.”

“I’ve just about reached my limit with Meghan and the Royal Family,” he added.

In the scathing interview – which went on for 9 hours – he also blasted Meghan’s “sense of superiority” and took credit for Meghan’s successes and expressed fears for his health.

“She’d be nothing without me,” he said. “I made her the Duchess she is today. Everything that Meghan is, I made her. […] She became the woman that she is today thanks to everything I did for her. And did I get any recognition for it? Any thanks? She doesn’t even speak to me now. How cold is that?”

The 74-year-old, who is reportedly in ill health after suffering a heart attack in the days before the royal wedding, fears he may not make it to his 80th birthday.

“The men in my family rarely live over 80 so I’d be surprised if I had another ten years. I could die tomorrow,” he mused. “It wouldn’t be so bad. I have something of a Buddhist philosophy about death. Perhaps it would be easier for Meghan if I died.

“Everybody would be filled with sympathy for her. But I hope we reconcile. I’d hate to die without speaking to Meghan again.”
