Netflix’s Tiger King documentary took us on a weird and wonderful journey, and the series has since released its final “after-show” episode hosted by comedian Joel McHale. But, turns out that final goodbye wouldn’t be the end of the colourful characters of Greater Wynnewood Zoo.

A wild fan theory has emerged, claiming Jeff Lowe was Big Cat Rescue founder Carole Baskin’s first husband, Michael Murdock. Bear with us.

The theory, which originated in a Tiger King memes Facebook group, claimed that due to a number of seemingly small coincidences – from looks to intertwining plotlines – Lowe and Baskin might have more ties than what the series portrayed of the duo.

“Jeff is Carole’s abusive first husband that she paid off to go take Joe down,” one fan wrote in the group, along with side-by-side photos of a young Baskin with Murdock and Lowe. “She rented a mansion and that car to draw him in. Jeff (and James Garretson) even admit they directed Joe to kill Carole.”

“When Joe didn’t do it,” the fan continued, “they needed him to pay, he didn’t. So Jeff sent his friend and he ‘chickened out’ on purpose.”

While the theory seems a little far-fetched (even in Tiger King standards), Twitter couldn’t help but roll with it.
