While Australia is known for its stunning coastlines, it has such a varying landscape that the feel of each beach can change within a few hours drive of one another.

This year, Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsundays topped the list for the fourth year in a row, but there were some surprises in store.
While Bondi Beach in Sydney didn’t make the list, Manly Beach took a slot. The Strand in Townsville also won a place for the first time ever.

Here are the top ten beaches in Australia according to TripAdvisor:
1. Whitehaven Beach, Queensland
This gorgeous location is in the Whitsundays, and praised for its white sand and crystal blue water.
2. Surfers Paradise Beach, Queensland
It’s best to hit this beach from October to May, and it’s conveniently close to the city.
3. Noosa Main Beach, Queensland
It’s not too crowded and is conveniently located near boutique shops.
4. Manly Beach, New South Wales
This Sydney beach is a popular surfing destination.
5. Turquoise Bay, Western Australia
True to its name, the water at Turquoise Bay is the brightest blue.
6. Burleigh Heads Beach, Queensland
This beach is a popular alternative to Surfer’s Paradise Beach, and great all year round.
7. Cable Beach, Western Australia
This Western Australian beach is known for its camel rides and beautiful sunsets.
8. Mooloolaba Beach, Western Australia
Another beautiful beach with white sand and blue water.
9. The Strand, Queensland
This is a great place to escape in the winter months, and is a popular place to walk in Townsville.
10. Emily Bay, Norfolk Island
This lagoon is a great place for experiencing tropical wildlife like fish and reefs.
