Wormwood examines the mysterious death of an army scientist who fell from his hotel-room window in Manhattan in the 1950s. Did he commit suicide as was initially reported? Or, was something much more sinister at play?
The documentary investigates a CIA conspiracy theory spanning decades, secret LSD dosings and the infamous mind control program MKUltra.
The way in which the story is told is equally compelling, blending re-enactments (with actor Peter Sarsgaard) with archival footage and interviews.
If you’re not already sold, critics have given the six-part series a big tick of approval; the Guardian calls it a “creepy trip”, while the New York Times says it invites “repeated, obsessive watching”.
