Dad Live Streams His Death After Hearing Of Daughter’s Engagement

Warning: distressing content

A father in Turkey live streamed his own death on Facebook Live, after finding out his daughter had gotten engaged without his permission.

Viewers of the video pleaded for 54-year-old Ayhan Uzun to stop as he spoke directly into the camera, telling people watching that he was going to end his own life.

“I am live streaming tonight, and it is my will, I do not want the ones who put me in this position to attend my funeral,” Mr Uzun said, according to a translation provided by Mirror Online.

“Nobody asked me,” Mr Uzun said of his daughter’s engagement, which he says he found out about after receiving a call from his wife. “Nobody treated me like a man.”

“My father-in-law took my place and without having a right, he approved my daughter’s wedding… Nobody said this girl’s father is alive. Though I would have waited for my daughter and family to say to me: ‘Come, Father, be with us.'”

“A little later I will put an end to my life with the gun I am holding in my hands,” he continued, ignoring the comments and influx of upset emojis from friends and family.

“Goodbye, I am leaving, take good care of yourselves,” Mr Uzun said before holding a handgun to his head and firing a single shot. He immediately fell onto the floor and out of frame.

Facebook later removed the video from the social media website.
