A family of five in the US was found dead in their home in an apparent murder-suicide.
ABC 6 reports that the police found the dead bodies of Megan Short and her husband Mark Short in their Berks County home, along with their three children, Liana (8 years old), Mark (5 years old), Willow (2 years old), and the family dog. All had died from gunshot wounds.
Megan and Mark Short had appeared in the news recently surrounding the life-saving heart transplant their two-year-old daughter, Willow, received when she was just a week old.
They recorded her journey online at Willow’s Heart Journey, and Megan Short shared her struggle with PTSD.
The couple had a reportedly volatile relationship, with police finding evidence that they had domestic problems prior to the killing.
A handgun was found next to one of the adults, and a handwritten note was left in the house, leading police to believe it was a murder-suicide.
The neighbours are still in shock from the events, saying they had no idea how it could have happened.
“It’s just unbelievable. I’m still in shock. I couldn’t sleep half the night because I was so upset,” said Jay Pezdirc, who lives nearby.
Police have not yet released information about who was responsible for the killing.
