This Was The Most Googled Beauty Brand In 2017

The buzziest name in beauty

2017 has been a big year for beauty: Rihanna launched the highly-hyped Fenty, Kim Kardashian released a fragrance and face masks finally made their way to the front and centre of a woman’s routine. But surprisingly (reassuringly?!), none of the above feature in Google’s top five most-searched-for beauty brands from the last 12 months.

Based on Google’s annual Year In Search report, the data reveals the astounding impact of Instagram and YouTube on our beauty routines. While many of the names you will have heard of (Benefit, for instance, ranked sixth in the list), the overwhelming majority are off-the-radar, industry favourites that have been backed by bloggers and vloggers alike.

But which wins the top spot? Drum roll please…. Ulta Beauty. An American chain (think a mix of Mecca and Priceline), Ulta is the US’ one-stop-shop for all things beauty everything, from their own brand to cult brands like Tarte and Cover FX to YSL Beaute and Too Faced.

Here’s the list in full:

1/ Ulta Beauty

2/ BH Cosmetics

3/ LipSense

4/ Charlotte Tilbury

5/ Milk Makeup

6/ Benefit

7/ Wet N’ Wild

8/ Fenty Beauty by Rihanna

9/ Huda Beauty

10/ Finishing Touch Flawless
