Gossip Girl star Ed Westwick is one of the (many) actors in Hollywood under fire for sexual misconduct at the moment, with the Los Angeles Police Department currently investigating rape claims filed by actress Kristina Cohen.
Cohen is the third woman to come forward with accusations against Westwick, and now, Westwick’s ex-girlfriend and former co-star, Jessica Szohr, is speaking out about the situation.
“I have to be so careful, because it’s not my situation and I don’t — I wasn’t there,” she told Cosmopolitan US. “So it’s hard to speak on behalf of those girls or him.”
While Szohr admitted she was “shocked” to hear the accusations, she was also careful to reiterate the fact she hadn’t been there at the time.
“I wasn’t there for those situations and I don’t know,” said Szohr.
“If you’re asking me, ‘Do I think he would do that to someone?’ No, I don’t. But was I there? No,” she said.
Szohr further admitted Westwick was going through “a difficult time,” following the accusations.
“He’s being accused of something that he’s publicly saying he didn’t do. So it’s, you know, tough on him. His show got cancelled. You know, he’s like, ‘The truth will come out and hopefully people see that and hopefully that’s it.’ It’s just such an unfortunate thing all around.”
While the investigation against Westwick continues, the BBC has pulled his upcoming TV miniseries, Ordeal By Innocence off its scheduling, and filming has halted on his current project, the White Gold series.
