Kristen Bell Had The Best Response When Asked If She Was Joining The ‘Gossip Girl’ Reboot

XOXO, Gossip Girl

Last week, after years of speculation (and prayers), a Gossip Girl reboot was officially confirmed by new streaming platform, HBO Max.

The upcoming show will follow a new group of Manhattan’s elite rich teenagers and take place eight years after the original Gossip Girl‘s finale, E! News revealed, reporting that 10-episodes have been confirmed as going ahead so far.

While we know a new group of actors and actresses will be taking to Manhatten’s Upper East Side, what we haven’t heard yet is whether any of the original cast will return, alongside original series creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage who are executive producing the reboot and Joshua Safran, an original executive producer, who is both executive producing and writing the reboot.

One person who was asked directly of their involvement is Kristen Bell, who, though she never actually appeared on screen in the show, played one of the most iconic roles: the voice of Gossip Girl.

In an interview with E! News, Bell was coy about her involvement, responding in a way only Gossip Girl would: “Maybe,” she said, “I’ll never tell.”

She also threw out a replacement name, should producers go elsewhere for 2019’s version of GG: “James Earl Jones. It’s gotta be, yeah,” she added.

Just last week, Chace Crawford, who played Nate on the original series, said that he would love to cameo, should a new series go ahead. “It would be very tough to get everybody on board I think because of their schedules, Penn, Leighton, Ed… They’re all doing really good TV shows. It would be hard I think [to get them altogether]. The reboot might come in the form of new characters. I would absolutely cameo. I’d have to!” he told Digital Spy.

Blake Lively, who played Serena Van Der Woodsen, has previously said she’d be open to a reboot, while Leighton Meester said in an interview in May that no one had spoken to her about the new series. “No one’s ever asked me,”E! News“No one’s ever talked to me about it except for in interviews and I always say the same: I never say never, so I don’t know. No one’s sent me that information, it’s coming from you.”
