If you’ve ever wondered what a wedding with absolutely no budget looks like, this is it.
When 19-year-old Irene Kogan married Daniel Kevey in London on the weekend, no expense was spared – not even a rumoured $US2.5 million to fly in Mariah Carey to sing one. Single. Song.
Let’s let that sink in for a minute: Mariah Carey performed at this wedding. Oh, and so did Elton John (according to Cosmopolitan UK, he sang 12 songs).
The extravagance wasn’t limited to the entertainment: Irene’s dress was a frothy embellished affair by British couturiers Ralph & Russo, while the 10-tier cake took over 1000 duck eggs to make (darlings, no-one bakes with hen’s eggs anymore) and was decorated with 10,000 handcrafted sugar flowers.
The bride’s grandfather is Russian billionaire Valery Kogan, so that goes some way in explaining the extreme decadence.
The wedding took place at the Landmark Hotel in Marylebone, London, with plenty of Russia’s A-listers in attendance.
