Melbourne Boys Orphaned After Losing Both Parents Weeks Apart

They now sleep in the same room to avoid being separated.

On March 10th 47-year-old mother-of-two Julie Watts lost her battle with breast cancer. She left behind her husband and two sons โ€“ 10-year-old Dylan and 13-year-old Connor.

The boys have spent the past few months trying to get used to life without their mum, and now, heartbreakingly, they have to get used to life without their dad too.

Just 10 weeks after Juliaโ€™s passing, her husband, Jason, passed away after a fight against B cell lymphoma.

Dylan and Connor are now being cared for by their paternal grandparents, sleeping in the same bedroom to avoid being separated.

โ€œFamily was everything to them. They taught their children to love one another and look out for each other in life,โ€ Jasonโ€™s brother Shannon told the Herald Sun.

โ€œThey both only ever looked at beating this nasty, horrible disease, and not once did I hear them say the word death.โ€

โ€œRight down to the last 12 hours of Jasonโ€™s life, he was telling us that he would be going home in a few days and the cancer wasnโ€™t going to beat him.โ€

A website has been set up with the aim of raising money for the ongoing care of the two Wattsโ€™ boys.

It describes Julia and Jason as โ€œwell loved in the Manningham community,โ€ saying, โ€œThey volunteered tirelessly at many sporting clubs, charity events, school events, private functions and Julia would often photograph events for free.โ€
