According to news.com.au, throat singing, known Katajjaq, is an Inuit practice traditionally performed by two women. The pair take turns making sounds and inhaling and exhaling to see who can last the longest.

Some users criticised the the royals’ giggles as being “bad form”, culturally insensitive and disrespectful.

Meanwhile, a National Geographic video on throat singing notes that the practice is a playful competition in which “the first person to laugh, stop, or run out of breath loses”.

Back in 2015, these young Inuit throat singers stole the show at Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s swearing-in ceremony. Amazing!
