Sydney publicist Roxy Jacenko revealed she has been diagnosed with breast cancer, weeks after her husband Oliver Curtis was jailed for insider trading.
Jacenko told the Daily Telegraph she discovered a lump in her breast while in the shower ten days ago.
“The timing is extraordinary,” she said. “What I have experienced in the past three weeks is the most shocking thing I have ever experienced. I don’t think there is anything that could shock me more now.”
The 36-year-old was due to undergo a ‘partial removal’ of the lump, however; the procedure has been delayed as the cancer ‘is larger than first suspected, so more testing is required.’
The mother-of-two said her husband ‘happened’ to call her while she was at the specialist, ‘so I just told him then.’
She has also told her four-year-old daughter Pixie, but won’t be telling her two-year-old son Hunter just yet.
“She [Pixie] cried last night [Monday night] because I said I wasn’t going to come home for two nights because I would be in hospital,” Jacenko said.
Curtis was sentenced to a minimum of one-year jail time last month for conspiracy to commit insider trading with his former high school friend John Hartman.
“Could this [her husband’s imprisonment] have added to it? You know what? I am not going to say no,” she said.
Jacenko doesn’t blame her husband as breast cancer runs in her family.
