Samantha Bryan was sitting in her classroom researching a school project at age 14 when she found out her father, Ian Huntley, was a murderer.
Huntley is currently serving 40 years in jail for murdering schoolgirls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, both 10, in Soham, England, in 2002.
Fifteen years after the horrific murders, Huntley’s estranged daughter has spoken about the moment she discovered his chilling past in a new documentary called Sohan Revisited: 15 Years On.
“I found out through school. We were doing the crime rates in Grimsby and Cleethorpes [suburbs] – so that’s all I put into Google and the picture of my mum came up so I clicked on it which took me straight to the story,” she said, reports The Sun.
In an interview on Good Morning Britain, Samantha, now 18, said she was upset when she found out. “I was more shocked because I wasn’t expecting it to happen. It did upset me for a very long time afterwards,” she said.
“I wasn’t angry at my mum for not telling me what he’d done because at that age I wouldn’t want my children to know that,” Samantha added about her mum Katie Bryan who first met Huntley when she was 15.
Katie Bryan was abused, repeatedly raped and force fed cat food for two years by Huntley before she eventually fled when she was pregnant with Samantha.
At three months pregnant, Huntley punched Katie in the stomach, raped her and threw her down stairs in a fit of rage. “I thought to myself, that’s it, I’ve got to protect my baby because he’s going to end up killing her,” she said.
Samantha says she will never meet her biological father. “The way I feel towards him? It makes me angry. It upsets me to know what he’s done and how many people he’s affected,” she said.
