Kate might have married a prince, but it’s Pippa Middleton who’ll be living the real modern fairytale after with her nuptials to financier James Matthews. She’ll be joining the glamorous clique of Chelsea wives—women who have made their home in one of London’s wealthiest enclaves with their stinking rich husbands.

And what, exactly, does such a glittering lifestyle look like? An insider has spilled the beans. When she ventures out of the couples’ $30 million mansion, which has an underground cinema, Pippa will likely enjoy nights out at Loulou’s at 5 Hertford Street, the private members’ club in Mayfair, they speculate. For the inevitable lavish dinner parties, she may hire in one of the Italian butlers known for servicing the hedge-fund scene.
If she’s anything like the nouveau-Chelsea set, she’ll lunch with similarly well-heeled friends at Rabbit, appropriately named given the size of their portions, belong to gyms that cost as much as rent in some parts of Australia, and enjoy weekly blow-dries.
But she’ll have to improve her fashion sense if she’s to truly fit in, says the insider. After all, Eden Rock, the St Barts hotel Pippa’s new in-laws own and which she’ll surely frequent, is known for its glamour and Hollywood guests. “Frankly, Pippa often looks like she’s going to work in an office as a secretary,” says a former neighbour in Chelsea. Pippa’s favourite labels, such as LK Bennett, Alice Temperley, Whistles, Suzannah and Misha Nonoo won’t wash.
She didn’t marry a royal, but it sounds like Pippa will be under just as much pressure as her big sister.
