Before she hangs up her leotard, Simone has one more title to take out, and she will likely do so within the next few days. She is just two medals shy of the overall record held by 1990s Belarusian male gymnast Vitaly Scherbo, and is expected to secure those medals during the Women's All-Around Final on Thursday and over the weekend, where she will compete in four individual event finals. She’s been undefeated in all-arounds for six years.
Despite her success, Simone still gets nervous before every competition. "I hate that feeling like I'm going to puke before," she told NBC Sports. "But, you know, we love the thrill of it. Reminds me to never give up because one day I won't have the opportunity to get that feeling."
