These Are The Workouts The Victoria’s Secret Models Swear By

Are you ready to sweat?

It’s that time of year again when our Instagram feeds are filled with Victoria’s Secret models sharing sweat-filled selfies of their training and workout routines ahead of the biggest, most-watched model event of the year: the 2018 Victoria’s Secret Show.

And whether it’s boxing, jiu jitsu, high intensity interval training, pilates, bodyweight or resistance training the workouts these models swear by to get into Victoria’s Secret Show-ready shape are no joke. Which makes complete sense, in a few short months these glamazons will be wearing nothing more than underwear on the world’s most-watched catwalk, there is literally nowhere to hide.

But in good news for us regular people, the VS models all turn to different workouts depending on what works for their body, with many claiming the workouts they do are the ones that they like. A claim that’s surprisingly relatable – workouts aren’t ‘work’ if they’re actually enjoyable.

Keen to take your cues from the VS models to nail your own spring training goals? Read on for the workouts the current Victoria’s secret models and past alumni swear by.

Josephine Skriver and Jasmine Tookes love working out so much they launched a fitness Instagram account @joja together which includes videos and images of the resistance-based training they both love. Speaking to Stylecaster, Skriver said their fave moves are “bodyweight and light weight[s].”

Blonde bombshell Elsa Hosk loves to box and also throw in one or two barre or pilates sessions, telling Marie Claire US, “I love boxing, and I try to mix it up as much as I can. Boxing makes you kind of tight, so it’s really good to mix that with barre, pilates, or something that’ll stretch you out and make you longer. I’m not the person that loves to be in the gym so much. I like to mix it up as much as possible, otherwise I’ll get bored.”

Another VS Angel who swears by boxing is Adriana Lima, who posts a ton of boxing pics to her Instagram account and is often photographed in the boxing gym ring.

Brazilian model Alessandra Ambrosio, who retired from the Victoria’s Secret runway this year, told Harper’s Bazaar she credits her banging body to Tracy Anderson Method dance cardio classes. “I love to do different classes and lately I have been doing Tracy Anderson Method because it’s fun and it feels more like a dance class than a workout. But, at the same time, it’s great exercise as it targets all muscle groups.”

Martha Hunt is a fan of mixing her workouts up between barre, pilates and strength training, telling Byrdie “I like to mix up my workouts because I think that it’s really important to diversify to get good results. So I’ll take a mix of barre class mixed with pilates and also strengthening workouts with my trainer. I like to mix lengthening with toning; I think that’s the perfect combination.”

Kiwi model Georgia Fowler’s weekly workout routine is no joke, speaking to Vogue the model said, “I generally work out five-six times a week, ideally. I will do a pilates class, two weights sessions, a HIIT (high intensity interval training) session and a boxing, cycling or cardio session. I think the most important thing is to listen to your body, what it can handle and mix it up to keep it exciting.”

Russian-born stunner Irina Shayk enjoys boxing and jiu juitsu sharing with People that she “work[s] out a lot. I do boxing, I do a little jiu jitsu which I am obsessed with.”

Puerto Rican model Joan Smalls sport of choice is boxing but not any old regular boxing, specifically Muay Thai kickboxing, a workout that’s not for the faint of heart.

29-year-old South African mum-of-two Candice Swanepoel said after the birth of her first child she turned to yoga to keep in her shape, telling The Cut, “I’ve been doing my own kind of yoga. It’s not traditional yoga, but I put on some music and mix in some pilates and squat resistance stuff I’ve learned over the years. It’s calm: I can meditate through it and get some flow with some music. It’s a little ritual for me. I do it every time I feel overwhelmed and stressed — I try at least twice a week.”

“I’ve been working out with my trainer, Justin Gelbland,” Portugese model Sara Sampaio told Byrdie. “And have also been doing pilates at Flex Studios in NY. I’ll also do a lot of resistance training for some cardio and butt work with ankle weights.”

Aussie model Victoria Lee trains with Lean Bean Fitness trainer Lizzy Bland when back in Australia doing bodyweight and resistance work including using ankle weights, Lee’s trainer Bland told Marie Claire earlier this year. And when Lee’s in the US she does the legendary trampoline-based workout at Body by Simone.

Like fellow VS Angels Jasmine Tookes and Josephine Skriver, Romee Strijd loves resistance and bodyweight training. And just like Tookes and Skriver, Strijd shares her workouts with the world, not on Instagram but on her dedicated YouTube channel. Tune in to watch Strijd show you exactly how to train like a VS Angel.

To stay in Victoria’s Secret Show-ready shape Taylor Hill calls on the services of personal trainer Lauren Duhamel, who, Hill told Harper’s Bazaar “specialises in building long, lean muscles by do[ing] a lot of muscle isolation exercises where you do slow, controlled movements for certain areas of your body that you’re trying to target. Think ankle weights, resistance bands and Pilates-inspired floor work.”

For Stella Maxwell yoga is her fitness go-to which she told Harper’s Bazaar is a “really good workout for anyone.” The model further added that mixing the style of yoga up keeps it enjoyable saying, “The level of toughness can vary. But, you are very much in control of that. If you don’t want to do Bikram, maybe a good idea is to do normal room-temperature yoga. Yoga Flow is kind of fun, because there’s music. I find it just a very enjoyable hour of life, rather than like something that’s hard like a work out.”
