The Most Awe-Inspiring Performances From The ‘One World: Together At Home’ Concert

Everyone from Lady Gaga to Taylor Swift (to real medical workers across the globe)

In collaboration with Lady Gaga, Global Citizen, the World Health Organisation and more than 70 of the world’s most talented artists banded together to celebrate and support healthcare workers fighting against the coronavirus pandemic. Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert hosted the virtual event, One World: Together At Home, which included performances and appearances from Taylor Swift, Elton John, Céline Dion, Jennifer Lopez, Paul McCartney and many more.

The 8-hour special also featured communities impacted by COVID-19 across the world, and included conversations with — and tributes to — the political leaders, scientists, health care professionals, and other essential service workers on the frontlines.

Over $200 million (AUD) was raised, Lady Gaga announced following the special night.

“I’m so grateful for the healthcare workers, the medical workers, all the grocery store workers and delivery people, the postal workers, all the other non-profits that are working so hard,” Gaga said. “This is really a true love letter to all of you all over the world, and I hope a reminder of the kindness that’s occurring right now.”

The 30-year-old singer wrote the song about her mom Andrea Swift‘s battle with cancer and the song is on her latest album Lover.

“We as a family decided to put this on the album, and it’s something I’m so proud of, but it’s just really hard,” Taylor told fans back in August 2019. “I can’t sing it. It’s hard to just emotionally deal with that song.”

“It was hard to write, it’s hard to sing. It’s hard to listen to for me, but sometimes music is like that,” she added.
