While Prince Charles and Camilla, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and Kate’s family wre all there, there were two guests missing: The Queen and Prince Phillip.
The was announced ahead of the ceremony that they would not be present, however despite initial speculation it had something to do with their health, Buckingham Palace confirmed is was due to a scheduling conflict and the matter had been discussed with The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge some time ago.
"The Queen & Philip have just spent the weekend together in Norfolk. He is remaining there while she travels back to London today. Her decision not to attend was mutually agreed with William & Kate, while Philip clearly doesn't want to attend public events unless he really has to," reports the Daily Mail’s royal correspondent.
The Queen has a busy week ahead, with Royal Air Force’s 100th anniversary fly-over as well as US President Donald Trump’s highly anticipated visit.
So while his great-grandparents might have missed the day, the youngest royal was still surrounded by family. Kate and Wills also announced Louis’ godparents who are Nicholas van Cutsem, Mr. Guy Pelly, Harry Aubrey-Fletcher, Lady Laura Meade, Mrs Robert Carter and Lucy Middleton.
After the service, the royal couple hosted their guests for a tea party in Clarence House, where, as is tradition, they served up cake from their 2011 wedding. The eight-tier cake was also dished out at the christenings of both Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
