Two days ago, it was confirmed that The Weeknd (nee Abel Tesfaye) and Selena Gomez had ended their relationship. The news broke after Selena was spotted spending time with her ex Justin Bieber.
But according to new reports, Justin had nothing to do with Selena and The Weeknd choosing to go their separate ways.
In fact, it was The Weeknd who apparently pulled the plug on the relationship, due to the pair’s dwindling connection and conflicting schedules.
“They had rarely seen each other because of his touring schedule and her shooting schedule,” TMZ reports. “They started talking less frequently on the phone.”
“Abel enjoyed being single before he met Selena and felt unfairly tied down in a relationship that had lost its passion,” it continued, revealing the rapper had ended the relationship over the phone.
“Several weeks ago Abel called Selena, explained how the relationship was no longer working for him and then ended it.”
Since the split, Selena has been spotted with Justin Bieber on multiple occasions. By the looks of things, the pair is rekindling their rocky romance.
