The family of missing boy William Tyrrell have shared an emotional message on the official Where’s William Tyrrell? Bring Him Home Facebook page to mark another Christmas without him.
As the post states, it has been three years, three months and now 17 days since William disappeared from his grandmother’s front yard in Kendall on the NSW mid-north coast. He was just three years old.
“On Christmas morning when little ones around Australia and the world awaken bright-eyed with wonder at toys found in stockings and beneath lighted trees, William’s loved ones will continue to shed tears for their precious little boy and the stolen years,” the post begins.
“Wherever you are William, we hold hope in our hearts that soon you will find your way home to us and we can smother you with love, hugs and kisses to make up for the heartbreak and tears, the lost Christmases and stolen years,” the post concludes. So far, it has been shared over 11,000 times.
In August 2017 it was revealed that William was a foster child in care when he went missing, after statutory restrictions were lifted by a NSW Supreme Court judge. When lifting the restriction, Supreme court Judge Justice Brereton noted “the tragic probability that [William] is no longer alive.”
Despite this, 7 News reports that the case remains open and police continue to search for William, who would have turned six in June.
In September 2016, a $1-million reward was offered for anyone who had information on the little boy’s disappearance.
