The Winter Trends We’re Letting Go Of This Season

Goodbye!

With winter just around the corner, there’s never been a better time to clear out your wardrobe. Use the new season as an excuse to switch it up, ditching some of your old favourites and trying something fresh. Below, our editors weigh in on the trends they’re embracing and the ones they’re letting go of to inspire you to do the same.

Monica Russell, Market Editor

Embrace:

I’m embracing colour this winter and going bold and bright with balloon sleeve knits.

This winter I’m swapping out my extreme pointed boots for a more sophisticated square toe.

Trench coat

Grace Back, News and Entertainment Editor

Embrace:

For the first time ever, I’m going to embrace the trench. I’ve always felt a little apprehensive about going for a brown trench coat (think Burberry on a Zara budget) but this year I’m all in! Chic, simple and can be paired with anything.

Flick:

I have a pair of knee high boots that I’ve had for years and years and they have become my winter go-to. This year I’m switching it up and am all about that ankle bootie life.

Check

Chloe Buttenshaw, Senior Fashion Editor

Embrace:

I’m going to be embracing check — it’s definitely my print of the season.

Flick:

I’m going to be leaving behind my heavy trench coat and embracing a lightweight version for the in between weather.

Isabelle Truman, Assistant Digital Content Manager

Embrace:

This winter I’m going to embrace colour! More specifically, tie-dye! I’ve already ordered a new season Georgia Alice tee and know I’ll soon be wearing it every day.

Flick:

I’m ditching… sneakers. I’m very over them but am yet to find a practical and comfy replacement. Send links!

Leopard print pants

Francesca Wallace, Senior Digital Fashion Editor

Embrace:

I’m going all out with leather this year. I’ve already invested in a longline leather trench and next will be a pair of wide-legged leather trousers.

Flick:

I never really got into it, but I do think it’s time to retire — or at least cut down on — animal print.
