Some wool is so soft it feels too good to be true. Picking up one of Wolfgang Scout’s exquisite hand-spun jumpers is one of these experiences.
Made from super soft Australian Merino wool, each of Wolfgang Scout’s pieces is made by hand by an artisan in India in a process that is sustainable from start to finish. Taking over 40 hours per jumper to craft, the final result is the perfect have-for-life piece that goes with virtually anything.
“It is important to us that we have a strong relationship with our grower and know everyone that is involved in our supply chain,” founders Natalie Wood, Carla Woidt and Marianne Horton say of their process and focus on sustainability. “From the grower through to cleaning, spinning to our particular specifications, dying with eco-friendly dyes through to knitting with a company that introduces women back into the workforce.”
Keen knitters themselves, the trio have created a product that reflects the crux of Australia’s favourite sustainable material: wool.
“It feels beautiful to wear but even more than that, knitwear is something that can be worn, loved and passed down through generations. It can be regenerated, repaired and have new life breathed into it,” the designers say, applauding the longevity of the material.

Moving into winter, Wolfgang Scout’s chunky, hand-knitted texture has a definite place in our wardrobes. Layered under dresses and coats or stacked on top of turtlenecks, their simple knits — which come in a variety of simple colours — can be worn with just about anything. “The beauty of knitwear is the flexibility. Wear it with a silk dress or with jeans and feel just as good!”
Plus, as the ultimate investment piece, a gorgeous wool jumper can be passed down for generations to come.
“As a natural fibre in origin, it has longevity and durability and is also ultimately able to be recycled and reused giving it the possibility of full circularity,” the designers say. We’re on board!
